On November 3, Wang Min, China ’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, called on the International Atomic Energy Agency to deepen nuclear energy and nuclear technology cooperation, and stated that China is willing to share relevant experiences with other countries.

民 The 69th UN General Assembly held a meeting on the report of the International Atomic Energy Agency on the same day. Wang Min said in his speech that this year coincides with the 30th anniversary of China's accession to the International Atomic Energy Agency. For the past 30 years, the Chinese government has always adhered to the principle of "giving equal emphasis to development and safety" and advanced the cause of nuclear energy development efficiently and safely. China and the International Atomic Energy Agency have carried out multi-level and all-round cooperation in various fields, and contributed to the peaceful, extensive and safe use of nuclear energy in China and even globally.

He said that the current global nuclear energy development trend, the increasingly wide application of nuclear technology, the continuous enhancement of nuclear safeguards, the further improvement of global nuclear safety and nuclear security, and more and more people benefit from this process. At the same time, the international cause of nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security still faces challenges, and the risk of nuclear terrorism cannot be ignored. The IAEA has a long way to go.

Xi Wangmin said that the IAEA should deepen its cooperation in nuclear energy and technology. The agency should increase its investment in resources to meet the increasing demands of member states for the peaceful use of nuclear energy. In particular, it should increase assistance to developing countries and share the results of nuclear energy development. In this regard, China is willing to share our development achievements and experience with other countries.

Xu Wangmin also proposed that the IAEA should strengthen nuclear safety and security; steadily improve the safeguard supervision system; and participate objectively and fairly in handling hot issues. He said that China will, as always, support the International Atomic Energy Agency in performing its functions fully and effectively in accordance with the Statute of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and contribute to world peace and development.
