On May 14, the 2014 Annual Conference of China Nuclear Energy Industry Association was held in Beijing. Zhang Huazhu, chairman of the China Nuclear Energy Industry Association, pointed out in his work report that the safe and efficient development of nuclear power is still an important strategic option for China to accelerate the adjustment of its energy structure and increase the supply of clean energy, and China's nuclear power development faces good opportunities. At the same time, we are also soberly aware that after the heavy blow from the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan, the recovery of nuclear power in the world is slow, and the normal construction of nuclear power in China is still in the recovery stage. The recent development of the nuclear energy industry is facing safety and quality, and the realization of nuclear power planning Goals, balanced and coordinated development of the nuclear energy industry, and many other challenges.

According to Zhang Huazhu, at present, there are 19 nuclear power plants put into commercial operation in mainland China, with a total installed capacity of 17.01 million kilowatts; 29 nuclear power plants under construction, with an installed capacity of 31.68 million kilowatts, continue to maintain the world's largest scale under construction. In the first quarter of this year, the country's nuclear power generation was 25.984 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for about 2.04% of the country's total power generation. The in-service units operate safely and stably. According to the performance indicators stipulated by the World Association of Nuclear Power Operators (WANO), among the more than 400 operating units in the world, China's in-service nuclear power units are generally at a high level, and some of the units and safety indicators are in the world. Advanced level. The quality, progress, and investment of nuclear power projects under construction are well controlled. The autonomy of nuclear power relies on the construction of the world's first batch of AP1000 units to actively advance in continuously overcoming the challenges of the first engineering, and the Taishan EPR project has made significant progress.

In addition, the safety improvements of nuclear power units in service and under construction in China after the Fukushima nuclear accident were implemented as planned, further improving the safety of China's nuclear power plants. By the end of 2013, the National Nuclear Safety Administration had put forward 10 safety improvement requirements for operating nuclear power plants. Except for one long-term research project that was progressing smoothly, all other projects were completed. At the same time, the National Nuclear Safety Administration put forward 14 safety improvement requirements for nuclear power plants under construction, and all nuclear power units that were loaded for the first time were implemented before loading, and other projects under construction were progressing as planned. In addition, China has also made new breakthroughs in the "going out" of nuclear power.

In addition, the nuclear energy industry's industrial chain has developed in concert with each other, and the quality and stability of nuclear power equipment products has continued to improve, which better meets the needs of nuclear power projects under construction; the ability to support nuclear fuel continues to improve; and the national major science and technology project "Large Advanced PWR and The high-temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear power plant has made good progress in research and development and demonstration projects, and has made important progress in the research and development of the “Hualong No. 1” nuclear power plant with independent intellectual property rights; the relevant state departments have initially established a scientific development coordination mechanism to serve nuclear power enterprises.
