Three ministries and commissions release pollution prevention plan for the energy industry: vigorous support for nuclear power

On May 16, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration and the Ministry of Environmental Protection jointly issued the "Work Plan for Strengthening the Prevention and Control of Air Pollution in the Energy Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan"), which is responsible for guiding the energy industry to undertake source governance and clean energy guarantee Supply responsibility. The Plan clarified a number of key tasks in the energy industry. The plan proposes to speed up the treatment of key pollution sources, guarantee the supply of clean energy, strengthen the control of total energy consumption, and ensure the supply of clean energy.
The "Plan" specifically stated that "the nuclear power construction should be promoted safely and efficiently". Its target is to generate more than 200 billion kWh of nuclear power in 2015, and strive to exceed 280 billion kWh of nuclear power by the end of 2017. In 2013, China ’s cumulative nuclear power generation capacity was 110.71 billion kWh, accounting for approximately 2.11% of the country ’s cumulative power generation, an increase of 12.62% over 2012.
As of now, there are 20 nuclear power generating units in operation in China, with a total installed capacity of 17.94 million kilowatts, 8 units under construction, and an installed capacity of 30.61 million kilowatts. This means that in the next few years, nuclear power investment and construction will usher in a period of rapid growth.
In addition, the "Plan" also proposed to form a supporting charging facility for powering 500,000 electric vehicles in 2015, and provide charging infrastructure support for the larger electric vehicle market in 2017. Promote the reform with the implementation of direct electricity purchase and sales by large customers as a breakthrough, and steadily advance the reform of the scheduling transaction mechanism and the electricity price formation mechanism.
