    On February 2nd, at the production site of CNNC Northern Nuclear Fuel Element Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CNNC, the first domestic CAP1400 depleted uranium flywheel for a shielded main pump for nuclear power was assembled. After dynamic balance testing, it fully met the design requirements. As the key component for the independent development of the third-generation large-scale advanced pressurized water reactor canned pump motor in China, this achievement has completely independent intellectual property rights. Its successful development has improved the safety and reliability of flywheel and main pump operation, and further expanded Application of depleted uranium materials in the nuclear power industry.


It is understood that the canned motor pump is a key device that affects the safety of nuclear power plants, and the structure and weight of the flywheel directly affect the moment of inertia of the canned motor pump. "Development of CAP1400 large-scale nuclear power plant depleted uranium main pump flywheel" belongs to a major scientific research project in China. It is the first preparation technology research of depleted uranium materials for the main pump flywheel of a nuclear power plant in China. The project was undertaken by CNNC North, which lasted for two years, breaking through many technical problems such as material selection, melting and casting technology, heat treatment, machining, and assembly, and finally successfully achieved research and development.


It is reported that large-scale depleted uranium flywheel products will also be delivered to the CAP1400 main pump assembly manufacturer for assembly verification. (He Xin)
