China News Service, Beijing, October 22, China and the UK reached an agreement a few days ago on the main issues of China's third-generation nuclear power technology "Hualong One" entering the UK. Qin Zhijun, deputy director of the Nuclear Energy Department of the National Energy Administration, said on the 22nd that this is an important step for China's nuclear power technology to enter the European market. However, China's nuclear power is still in its infancy and there is still a long and arduous road to go.

This is what Qin Zhijun pointed out when he participated in the "China Nuclear Power Going Global Forum" held on the 22nd.

He said that China's nuclear power is following the path of introduction, digestion, absorption, and innovation. In this process, China has accelerated independent innovation, and has formed the third-generation nuclear power technology of Hualong No. 1 and CAP1400 with independent knowledge brands. It has developed high-temperature gas-cooled reactor technology with the safety characteristics of fourth-generation nuclear energy systems and corresponding nuclear power. Manufacturing equipment capabilities have also increased significantly. At the same time, a high-quality professional team covering all aspects of construction, operation, and technical services has been initially formed.

He said that China ’s nuclear power “going global” has made positive progress, especially during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the United Kingdom. China and Britain reached agreement on the main issues for China ’s third-generation nuclear power technology “Hualong One” to enter the UK, which means that China ’s independence Three generations of nuclear power technology will enter Western developed countries for the first time. "This is an important step for China's nuclear power technology to enter the European market."

Zhi Qin Zhijun pointed out that with the development of new projects in Pakistan, Argentina, Romania, South Africa and other countries, China's "going out" of nuclear power is expected to achieve new breakthroughs.

However, he believes that China's nuclear power "going global" is still in its infancy and there is still a long and arduous road to go. As far as the British market is concerned, the deployment of Chinese nuclear power technology in the United Kingdom will also need to pass rigorous review by the independent nuclear safety authority of the United Kingdom and will not be smooth sailing.

Huang Mingang, chief economist of China National Nuclear Corporation, also pointed out at the forum that "Hualong One" has "goed out", but faces fierce international market competition.

According to reports, statistics from the World Association of Nuclear Power Industry show that by 2030, 160 new nuclear power units will be added globally, and the new investment will reach 160 billion US dollars.

"If China wants to enjoy the big cake of the international nuclear power market, it must accelerate research, tracking and contact with emerging nuclear power countries, and accelerate the general design assessment (GDA) of destination countries and the certification, evaluation and exhibition of international organizations." Huang Mingang He said that in the future, nuclear power will be established in middle developing countries. The multi-regional development of nuclear power is a basic trend. The group has signed 8 units with foreign countries, and hopes to strive to export another 5-8 units by 2020, focusing on the Latin American, Asian and African markets, and actively explore the European market.

Zheng Hua, Marketing Director of China National Nuclear Corporation's International Nuclear Power Development Department, said that China's nuclear power industry faces different challenges for different countries. In the face of developed countries such as the United Kingdom, the threshold for exporting equipment and technology is relatively high. In particular, GDA has a long road to review. Based on the existing experience and capabilities of China Nuclear Power, it is confident to start the DGA review. "Signing a contract does not mean landing immediately. Expect to see hope in 4-5 years. "

At the forum, Qin Zhijun pointed out that without cooperation, there would be no achievements in China's nuclear power development. The National Energy Administration will serve Chinese nuclear power companies ’go-out strategies, strengthen the top-level design of nuclear power“ going global ”, increase research and demonstration of independent brand technologies, support and guide enterprises to carry out scientific research, and resolve bottlenecks that restrict the autonomy of nuclear power . At the same time, it will also support enterprises to participate in international market project competitions in a variety of cooperation modes. China is willing to share experiences with international counterparts and help the development of global nuclear energy.
